Almost free Study in Germany (for degree programs conducted in English/German)
Up to the year 2006 there*was no tuition fee in Germany for any study programmes of any Kind in all state maintained universities, but from the year 2007 all the students would have to pay a tuition fee of Euro 500/semester or Euro 1000/year. But still it is a little fee if you compare it with UK, Denmark or Netherlands where a yearly tuition fee is about Euro 8000 to Euro 15000 is charged. The living expenses, which come around around Euro 10,000 for entire 2 years of study in Germany, can be sustained easily by doing some part time job.
Fees and Living Expenses
Normally good accommodation is available in the range of Euro 150 to 200 per month*for a single room. Sometimes it is also possible if you are coming with your friends together then you can get a shared room, which costs very less. Health insurance is compulsory in Germany which costs from Euro 30 to 50 per month. Rest would be the expanses on your meals. If as many as 3-5 Pakistani students living together it costs approx Euro 20-25 per person per week. Students are required to have bank draft of 7000-8000 Euros on their name which will be to open a bank account in Germany on the condition that only 400-500 euros will be withdrawn per month.
Intake
Semester starts in German universities/colleges every year in September/October and March/April for International students. Almost every university takes application in March to October for April session and from November to April for October session of every year and announce results/acceptance letter after two months, so successful students can apply students visa as Embassy takes almost 8 weeks to process the visa.
English and German Language Ability: Both IELTS and German language are required.
IELTS: IELTS with minimum 6.0 to 6.5 bands.
German Language: Minimum 100 hours of class room training from Goethe institute.
If you have done 4 years’ bachelors degree (16 years’ of completed education), equal or above 50% to 60% marks, you can take admission in masters. If you have done intermediate, equal or above 50% to 60%, you can take admission in bachelors programme.
Please note: Only Postgraduate, PhD/Scholarship holder students are allowed to bring their spouse and children to Germany.
Part time jobs / Unlimited work permit / PhD Scholarship
Students are allowed to take up to three months (90 working days) of paid employment in any academic year. Paid employment is not permitted during preparatory language courses or during other preparatory courses. The students who would complete a degree from Germany can stay for one year to search for job. If he gets a job then he would get an unlimited work permit. There is also an option of a*PhD (which are not only without any fee but you are paid for that, normally from Euro 700 to Euro1000 in start and up to Euro 2000 later on.
Schengen Visa
The visa granted for Germany is also the Schengen visa which allows you to travel to and stay for less than 90 days in the following countries without any additional visa(s):
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
