United Kingdom Tier 4 – Student Visa
The UK Tier 4 visa, also known as a UK student visa is available to students who wants to come UK for study. One thing you should keep in mind that the college or university that you choose to study at must be a registered sponsor under Tier 4. To apply for the UK student visa, you must be issued with a Certificate of Application or a visa letter from the college or university, and must have adequate money for tuition and maintenance.
To qualify for a UK student visa you must also fulfil certain criteria, including:
- You must have a secured place at a UK-based college or university for full-time study. Full-time is defined as a minimum of 15 hours of classroom study per week;
- You must be able to support yourself financially without access to public funds (benefits), as well as be able to pay for the course, all accommodation and maintenance.
- If you qualify in applying for a UK student visa you will be granted a Tier 4 visa, depending on the length of the course you are studying. You may work as long as up to 20 hours per week on a UK student visa during term time depending on the length of your visa. If you have a partner or dependant, they are usually free to work as they choose as long as you are going to be studying for more than one year.
